Introduction:
In my growth history from participating in work to now, I am grateful to:
------indoctrination and guidance of Chairman Zhang Weiping
------support and encourage from all colleagues
------Gemmy Foods Co. Ltd and Noah’s Ark Group, cultivating me to be a useful person to the society
For a seed, it has great strength to germinate from under the ground, undergo the canicule and bitter cold, and grow to be a towering tree swaying in the wind freely. For our people, what is the strength source for growth?
It seems extremely smooth for me to grow up from a little boy, and it is no suspense for me to finish my school work from primary school, to secondary school, then to university. At age of 21, I was appointed as general manager of Kunming Gemmy Foods Co. Ltd by chairman Zhang. From then on, I threw myself into busy work, like a robot equipped with clockwork and you would always see the busy but happy silhouette of a young manager, casting all restrains aside to work with great passion.
One will treasure what he has paid. I love my company just like loving myself, as a vulgar saying goes. One time, I worked overtime to late night. And during that period, floor 4 was staff dormitory and some staff walked in and out at that time. When I went out of the office, I happened to see a staff pouring tea: he poured the tea to a flowerpot far away and the tea water drew a twisted parabola in the air, then splashed around the flowerpot, at least a half of which on the white wall which was painted 3 days ago, with tea leaf on the wall and tea water flowing down along the wall, leaving a brown print. “What on earth are you doing?”, I shouted aloud, surprised and rageful to see the company, cherished with my heart, being trampled on. Conducting harsh criticism on the staff on site, I went back to the dormitory, unable to be calm. Just in the night, I drew up A Letter to all Staff of Kunming Gemmy Foods Co. Ltd. and informed all managers of a meeting the next morning, to discuss how to establish sense of ownership among the staff. Afterwards, with the corporate atmosphere becoming better and better, I harvested joy and sense of accomplishment. Passion is the strength for me to grow up.
It is the objective of Gemmy Company to offer effective and considerate service, and products with high quality. In course of reaching the goal, I could have my wit’s end sometimes, at which moment I would turn to the boss for help. With a tired and oppressive heart, I stepped into the office of chairman Zhang. “Service comes to the end and no further room for improvement.”, after a deep sigh, I spoke out. Chairman Zhang burst into a laugh after hearing my words, “Look at yourself, a cotton jacket (Note: it was winter, also rained outside), bow-backed, then who will believe that you are the general manager of Gemmy Company.” Only then did I suddenly realize that my casual dress and dejected spirit had bound my heart firmly. With this in mind, I summoned up the spirit immediately and paid undivided attention to what he would say.
Chairman Zhang imparted me two languages, “Service has no limit; as long as you are willing to think about it and do it, there will be infinite room for improvement.”, “One must have a broad mind; the more people you will hold in your mind, the broader your cause will be.”
During all these years, I studied these two languages, equipped myself with knowledge through industrious study, set my goal regarding to these two sentences. Any time when I made some understanding from the meditation, I would get some progress and the company grew up gradually in this process: distinctive brand image of our service had been established among the industry; the annual business was on rapid and steady rise; and the number of the staff changed from the original scores of people to nearly 700 now.
With the expansion of business scope, the competitive situation quickly transformed. Quantitative change of workload inevitably resulted in qualitative change, in which process I was intoxicated in the admiration and praise from others, made judgment towards some affairs or on some people with strong personal emotions, also felt disheartened and displeasure for not reaching the objectives. When ruminating about these, I would be not what I had been; numerous contradictions hovered in my mind, and I became slow-witted gradually…..
“I must make a breakthrough!”, I shouted out to myself when realizing I was encountered with the bottlenecks of my business.
I never give up rashly, so I tried to do more things even if confronted with great troubles. I always suppressed the emotions to tolerate people around, but felt that no one showed understanding to me.
One day, I started to make a self-questioning, why such situation occurred? And suddenly to find: I had a magnifying glass in the hand, magnifying the evaluations from others and amplifying my own shortcomings. The biggest obstacle I had encountered with was I myself. Evil is from the deep heart, as the old saying goes. I realized that all were oriented from my own mind.
In the end, I figured out, saw clearly and digested it. For myself, I had more understanding, firmer in my mind, and be suddenly enlightened. Broad mind means you could appreciate the bright side of each person who lived happily on their own tracks, and you need not tolerate, but show a proper understanding and guidance. Switching corporate work from a task to a process of experience and enrichment, then you might feel tired physically, but there would always be a hint of joy in the mind.
Passion may not last for long and the sense of achievement may disappear easily, so self-understanding and self-surpassing is the strength for me to grow up.
