“HE” Will Always Live in Our Hearts
——a memory of father Zhang Weizhong

Recalling of “him”, someone will have a little bitterness, with tears in the eyes; while thinking of his rash and hasted shape, serious and responsible attitude, some others will say that he does not leave, he live in our hearts. He is our ex-factory director- Zhang Weizhong.
Reminiscing of his serious but gracious face, I felt fear with respect. In 1987, 20 years ago, when our factory was confronted with a crucial moment of transforming from construction machinery to mining machinery, he resolutely quitted his job with 23-year length of service in a state-run enterprise (Kunming Iron and Steel Company) and came to Kunming CIBA Mining Machinery Factory to be in charge of the arduous task: marketing.
He started sales of mining machinery from the scratch and groped gradually. Recollecting the January of 1989 when my young brother and I went on a business trip with him to Guiyang, it was about 11pm when we got off the train. With cold wind blowing against our faces, my brother and I shivered due to hunger. Father bought some food on the stall around the railway station, then brother and I sat on a small icer- covered stool and ate it, but father did not because he is of Hui nationality. The next day, he bought a bottle of Rufu (salted tofu with pepper). If there was no Muslim restaurant, he would lead us to a restaurant at random, and then ate some rice with the Rufu only, but it was spoiled by brother and me by occasions. However, the severe condition did not stop or slow down his pace of exploiting the new market.
In 1995, our factory provided ore dressing equipments for Yongpingshuixie Copper Mine Plant, but in 1996 they found excessive arsenic contents in process of ore exploitation, which affected the copper quality and price seriously. The owner Yang Shaohe came to our company and asked him for help. By that time, the equipment had been operated in their company for about one year, but he took Yang Shaohe to Huili to have an inspection with no hesitation, where lots of copper mine enterprises located and some of them were our customers, and tried to find out the solution with Mr. Yang. From then on, customers became our friends. Mr. Yang would think of father first whenever he was confronted with difficulties years later.
Huili Xiaoshifang Lead Zinc Ore Plant ordered more than ten 1.8M flotators from our company, occupying a little part among all their equipments. But one day, father received a call from this Plant, there being an opening ceremony for their Lead Zinc Ore Plant the next day. After arranging the work, he took Li Chunjia, sales person, and Jiang Zhengfa, the driver, to Huili at 6pm. Due to the rough road, they reached Huili at 8am the next day, just before the opening ceremony. Their appearance gave a pleasant surprise to the customers who were moved a lot. Until now, there is close cooperative relation between Huili Xiaoshifang Lead Zinc Ore Plant and our company.
He goes on business trip and signs contracts one after another. He coughs and catches a cold repeatedly. And in the summer of 1998, unbelievable news shocked everyone: he fell with DCM (a certain serious heart disease). From then on, there was no rash and haste shape of him and no babbling questioning. He lost weight from 76 kg to 40 kg only due to the serious disease, and passed away in the winter of 2001. His life is extra-ordinary but meaningful. He put Loyalty first, loyal to the enterprise, to customers, to family, to brothers and to friends…… He does not leave us alone; He lives in our hearts, in the hearts of each staff from Kunming CIBA Mining Machinery Co. Ltd.
